Deep Condition with a Shallow Budget

Disclaimer: This product is not curly girl friendly and contains silicone that isn’t water soluble.

In my recent favorite conditioner post, I talk about the struggles of being a broke college student and how that has led me to explore my options in the name of health and being pro ‘fro.

Most recently, that search has led me to the land down under where I plan to seek refuge in the event that my go-to deep conditioners are giving me the side-eye and a “girl, bye!”

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner

C/O Aussie

Aussie Description:

Here’s a deep conditioner treatment with 3X the moisturizing power. Transform dry hair into silky, shiny waves in 3 short minutes with a nourishing and intensely hydrating formula, made with a touch of Australian Aloe, Jojoba and Sea Kelp. This deep conditioner is a consistent winner of top beauty product awards including the 2011 and 2012 Allure Best of Beauty Award and 2013 Glamour Glammy Award for “Best Conditioner”.

Ingredients:

Water/Eau, Stearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Dimethicone, Fragrance/Parfum, Benzyl Alcohol, Glutamic Acid, EDTA, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Ecklonia Radiata Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone

Performance:

Lemme just put it out there now that ya girl has never and will never deep condition for only three minutes. It’s practically on my list of 10 (hair) Commandments that thou shall always be a 30-60 minute waiting, plastic cap wearing, some form of heat applying user of deep conditioner. So assuming that is the case…

This product has tons of slip and is perfect for detangling. It has a thick buttery consistency that smells like happiness riding an ocean breeze with a side of coconut milk. Because it glides so easily through the hair, a little goes a long way.

Bonuses:

The packaging of this deep conditioner is pretty legit. The function of the squeeze tube bottle paired with the grip-enhancing grooves make for a clean, efficient, and shower-friendly experience.

My Thoughts:

I should note that although this product is not CG friendly, the presence of silicone is nothing a good clarifying shampoo or ACV rinse can’t sort out, so don’t let that deter you if you’re not CG committed.

This deep conditioner is extremely affordable and has a fairly good reputation within the natural hair community for it’s amazing slip and detangling properties. I definitely think it’s worth checking out if you’re a budget-conscious Naturalista on the hunt for a decent deep conditioner.

I’m curious… what are your thoughts on products with silicone? Have you used Aussie Moist’s deep conditioner? Let me know down below!
